“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV
A fresh start. A new opportunity. A blank page.
Everyday is a part of God’s greater story, of who you are growing to be. It might not all make sense in the here and now, but God doesn’t promise us all of the information. Instead, He promises us that all things will work out for good in the end. And that promise requires us to trust in Him throughout the entirety of the journey: the trials and the triumphs.
What lies ahead in this new year is unknown. And although that uncertainty can be uncomfortable, it is where we must learn to trust in Him the most.
If we went into this year with the expectation that we could make all of our circumstances change and get better, we took our focus off of God and placed it back upon ourselves. We momentarily lost out on the hope that comes with trusting in God’s strength. We must change the way we walk into and through the new year with expectations that what God is doing in, around, and through our lives is so much greater than what we could do ourselves.
So let us pray that this year will become the one where we grow closer to our Heavenly Father. Let us pray for God’s will to be done (whatever that may look like) and for trust throughout the uncertainty. Let us pray for hope when we go through deep waters and for God’s loving strength to guide us through. Let us pray for growth in ourselves so we can become more like Jesus. Amen!
